Wednesday Lunch Breaks

Wednesday lunch breaksWednesday Lunch Breaks: Department of Economics Undergraduate Programs

Looking for a break from the busyness of the school week, or missing community connection in the age of virtual or hybrid learning? Are you searching for a competitive edge to kick off the semester? It’s your lucky (Wednes-) day! From the comfort of your home or campus study spot, bring your lunch and join us for a hump day Wednesday Lunch Break. Each week, we’ll gather at 12 pm on WebEx for this department-wide, undergraduate-focused virtual space. The format will function on a biweekly rotation between experts sharing on a variety of topics and a more informal, drop in time with light-hearted topics and maybe a little fun!

Every other week starting Jan. 27 at 12 pm, we’ll have a speaker share about their area of expertise and how it relates to you as an undergrad student. Join us to hear about Jump Starting Your Semester (health/wellness), how to ask for a great letter of recommendation or references, the intersection of economics and innovation (and what that means for you!), tips for those considering advanced study (law and graduate study, our MSAE program), and more.

On the other weeks starting Feb. 3, we’ll gather at 12 pm for a more informal weekly drop-in and discussion on a variety of “fun” topics. Tune in for fun surprises like bingo, and the department’s hidden talents.

On Wednesdays, we’ll see you for lunch! Questions? Contact Lydia at lrich@iastate.edu.
