Travel fund honors Artz

Dr. Georgeanne ArtzThe Executive Board of the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) recently approved a proposal for an endowed travel fund in honor of Economics Department Associate Professor Georgeanne Artz, who passed away April 25, 2019. The fund will be used for graduate student travel grants in perpetuity.

The fund is a result of actions taken by two graduate students whom Artz mentored, Katherine Lacy, now at the University of Nevada, Reno, and Jimena Gonzalez, Manhattan College, who proposed the fund to honor Artz's dedication and passion for her profession and her students.

"Her lessons went beyond economics. In spite not being in our dissertation committees, Georgeanne was extremely important for our success in graduate school and for our preparation and success on the job market. She has inspired us to strive to become better mentors and teachers. We are forever grateful for her help and support."
