Swenson media interviews

David SwensonDavid Swenson, associate scientist, had several recent media contacts:

Pat Powers, KZWC AM radio in Webster City.  Interview on Swenson and Eathington's SAVE study.

Dave Price, WHO TV The Insiders program with Tom Price, executive director of the Iowa Taxpayers Association, to discuss taxes, tax policy, and the current legislative session.

Dan Winters, WHO TV. Request for comments and perspective on the collective bargaining law changes at the Statehouse. Swenson noted that there had been misinformation presented claiming that private sector workers earned substantially less than the public sector: that when controlling for full-time employment, level of education, and by sex, private sector workers, across the board, make more in total wages, salaries, and benefits than do state and local workers.

Erin Murphy, Lee Enterprises Des Moines Bureau Chief. Requesting research that he had done as well as additional references on the private pay versus public pay issue for an article in the Mason City Globe Gazette.

Interviewed by Erin Murphy, Cedar Rapids Gazette, Swenson said private-sector wages could provide reasonable benchmarks for some jobs.

Swenson was also a panelist on Feb. 9, 2017 at the Cedar Rapids Gazette’s Business Forum on economic development and tax increment finance usage.
