David SwensonDavid Swenson, associate scientist had several media interviews recently:

Talk of Iowa, Iowa Public Radio. With Paul Lasley of Sociology, he discussed rural population losses and consequences in Iowa.

Emily Boster, KIMT, Mason City. Dave was interviewed about the economic impact study he did on the proposed Prestage slaughtering facility.

And a story in The Belmond Independent cited Swenson's brief economic study of the proposed Prestage hog processing factory that may be built near Eagle Grove, Iowa.

Swenson contributed an essay to the Business Record, which asked three contributors (Mike Ralston, President, Iowa Association of Business and Industry; Tom Root, associate professor of finance, Drake) to answer “One Big Question: What’s behind the slowdown in manufacturing? Swenson’s piece is titled, “Economist: Manufacturing to continue to dominate state’s economy.”

Swenson also answered questions from Matthew Patane, Des Moines Register reporter, about the new Microsoft data center in West Des Moines.
