Murat Oztok, an international student from Turkey, came to the United States as a senior is high school. After committing to play football at another college, Murat decided to transfer to Iowa State University to focus on academics. He explained how he felt welcomed and accepted at Iowa State University from the very beginning. Murat, like many international students, believes “that anyone, regardless of where they were born or what they were born into, can attain their own version of success in a society in which upward mobility is possible for everyone.” Murat is thankful that he took a leap of faith to study at a university in the United States and urges all international students who are considering studying in the US to give it a chance.
