Hans RienscheHans Riensche, agricultural business senior, received the award for Leadership Excellence from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Student Council. This award is given to a graduating senior based on involvement within clubs and organizations while at Iowa State.

As a student, Hans served as a CALS Senator for Iowa State's Student Government for two years, served on CALS Student Council, and has been an active member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. He received the John Chrystal International Internship Award from the World Food Prize Foundation for his work as a Borlaug-Ruan Intern, was named a CALS Growing Leader, and received the All-University Leadership and Academic Award. "I have seen his dedication in representing his constituents as a CALS Senator by making a point to attend club meetings, putting out surveys concerning events in student government, and mentoring younger members in the Senate," said nominator Megan Decker, Student Body Vice President. Megan concluded that she immediately "recognized a love for learning, positive attitude, and passion for the agricultural industry" in Hans.
