Question:

I am trying to get an estimate for 2014 arc-co corn and soybean payments for Monona and Harrison counties.

Answer:

ISU Extension has created tools to explore the potential benefits/payments from the programs in the 2014 Farm Bill. These tools are available from www.extension.iastate.edu/agdm/info/farmbill.html. Specifically, the “New Safety Net” tools on this page provide spreadsheets to compute projected payments from the ARC-CO and PLC programs. The final ARC-CO payments depend on the two key pieces of information, the county average yield as announced by the Farm Service Agency of USDA and the marketing year average price as announced by the National Agricultural Statistics Service of USDA. Neither of these numbers are in final form yet, but we do have estimates of each built into the tools. Based on the latest estimates for those numbers, the 2014 ARC-CO corn and soybean payments for Monona and Harrison counties are:

Harrison County
Corn     $74.64 per base acre
Soybeans     $36.75 per base acre

Monona County
Corn     $75.54 per base acre
Soybeans     $0.00 per base acre

These payments will also likely be affected by the sequestration rules Congress has imposed. If the sequestration cuts occur, that would reduce these payments by roughly 7%.
