January 11, 2017

The three Regent universities are participating in a study of faculty activity. All faculty members at the three universities will be asked to complete an online reporting form describing how they spend their work time during a randomly assigned one-week period during the semester. This information (which will be reported in the aggregate only to the Board of Regents, State of Iowa) will help the universities educate external constituencies about the wide range of important activities that comprise faculty responsibilities.

For travel expenses incurred on or after January 1, 2017, the default rate will be 26.75 cents/mile, a decrease from 27 cents/mile. The default mileage reimbursement rate is calculated at 50% of the full IRS rate and is applicable for trips of more than 100 miles if the traveler chooses to use a personal vehicle when a vehicle is available from Transportation Services. 

The 2017 full IRS rate is decreasing to 53.5 cents/mile, from the current 2016 rate of 54 cents/mile.

Dr. WenWendong Zhang, assistant professor, hosted a press conference on Dec. 13, 2016, on the results of the 2016 Iowa Land Value Survey, which showed a 5.9% decline in per acre value since November, 2015. Land values have declined 17.5% since a historic high in 2013.
