Haylie Xin Moore, who is currently pursuing four majors, Agricultural Business, Economics, Agriculture and Rural Policy Studies, and International Agriculture, along with a minor in Chinese Studies, was selected as one of seven recipients of the 2026 Wallace E. Barron All-University Senior Award. Established nearly 60 years ago, this award recognizes outstanding seniors who demonstrate high character, exceptional academic achievement, significant university and community involvement, and strong potential to continue these values as alumni. A member of the University Honors Program, Haylie has earned numerous scholarly distinctions, including prestigious scholarships; top placements in university competitions such as Best Presenter and 2nd Place Best Strategy at the 2025 Pappajohn Center Case Competition; completion of the Peace Corps Preparation Program; national FFA recognition; and earlier honors in Chinese language study and the George Washington Carver Scholastic Leadership Scholarship.
Haylie has also demonstrated exceptional leadership at Iowa State University and remarkable global engagement. She currently serves as the U.S. National Director for the International Association of Students in Agriculture and Related Sciences (IAAS), following previous roles as Vice President of Exchange and President of the ISU chapter. On campus, she has strengthened sustainability initiatives through her work on the University Sustainability Committee and advanced humanitarian programs through the International Student Council. Internationally, she has represented CALS with distinction through academic, service, and cultural experiences in Hong Kong, Costa Rica, Italy, Greece, the UAE, Nepal, and Mexico. Her active involvement with the World Food Prize Foundation, including leadership roles at the Global Youth Institute and Iowa Youth Institute, further highlights her dedication to developing the next generation of agricultural leaders.
Haylie exemplifies ISU’s highest values: intellectual curiosity, research excellence, service-minded leadership, and a deep commitment to improving communities locally and globally. Her achievements not only reflect a sustained record of excellence but also inspire others to pursue knowledge, lead with purpose, and contribute meaningfully to the world. Haylie’s continued record of leadership, academic distinction, and global engagement ensures she will represent the Department of Economics, CALS, and Iowa State University with distinction long after graduation, qualities that embody the very spirit of the prestigious Wallace E. Barron Senior Award.
