The Journal of Investing and the Mays Innovation Research Center are hosting the second annual Texas A&M Bitcoin Conference. This conference will be in person in College Station, Texas in the spring of 2022. This conference aims to host an interdisciplinary discussion of all aspects of Bitcoin that mixes research, business, and education. In honor of decentralization, registered attendees of the conference will vote to pick the best paper, which will receive a cash award of $5,000. We seek short, general-interest papers about any aspect of Bitcoin and its impact on the financial sector, the economy, and society. The potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- The rise of Bitcoin as an asset class
- Adoption of Bitcoin by institutional investors
- Retail investor attitudes towards Bitcoin
- Central bank policy towards Bitcoin
- Corporate uses, adoption, and engagement with Bitcoin
- The Bitcoin labor market
- Bitcoin and decentralized finance
- Bitcoin versus other cryptocurrencies
- Principles, culture, foundations of Bitcoin
- Developments in the Bitcoin protocol
- Settlement of transactions in Bitcoin.
- Bitcoin and international capital flows/remittances
- Bitcoin and Big Tech
- Long-run social impact of Bitcoin
The Journal of Investing will aim to publish the six papers accepted to the conference, subject to peer review and meeting the Journal’s editorial standards. Authors of papers accepted for publication must sign the PMR copyright agreement.
Like last year's conference, the goal is to have a general and wide-ranging discussion that can engage the public at large, so presentations may be less detailed than the underlying papers themselves.
The Mays Innovation Research Center will pay a $1,000 speaker fee to each author of an accepted paper to the conference to cover travel expenses to College Station.
