David Swenson, associate scientist, answered questions from Katharine Carlon, Corridor Business Journal (Coralville), about how employment by sector and by occupation has changed in Iowa over the last decade.
He also talked with Sarah Ritter, Quad City Times, about how the trade war has affected manufacturing in Iowa and in eastern Iowa.

"It's a mess. It doesn't look like the deal with China is being negotiated toward resolution," Swenson said. "And you and I are paying for it. If you wanted to put solar panels up or buy a washing machine, you're paying a higher price. We are paying more for appliances and the cost of production of things made in the U.S., from automobiles through electronics."
Swenson also talked with Grant Schulte, Associated Press – Nebraska, about FEMA’s difficulty in hiring engineers and architects as temporary employees to assist with flood recovery in Nebraska.
