Schulz mentors summer research intern

Michaela EdenMichaela Eden, incoming master student of ag economics at Kansas State University, is one of the students working this summer at Iowa State as a George Washington Carver Research Intern. The program seeks to improve the research enterprise through increased diversity; champion the value of graduate education; and prepare and recruit the best and brightest for undergraduate and graduate education at ISU.

Eden has been funded by CARD, and has been working under the direction of Associate Professor Lee Schulz since June on her project, "Price analysis of retail pork items using publicly available data."

The first objective of the study was to identify current sources of retail pork price data and provide perceptions of the usefulness of the data. Secondly, the project examined price trends over time, across regions, and between different pork products.

She presented her lightning presentation of her work at the Research Symposium Thursday morning, July 25, in 368A Heady Hall, and her poster presentation in Curtiss Hall in the afternoon.
