Professors Sergio Lence and Mark Edelman were recipients of the university’s most distinguished awards and were honored Monday, Sept. 23, at the ISU Faculty and Staff Awards Ceremony at 3:30 p.m. in the Memorial Union Great Hall. These awards are a reflection of their commitment to Iowa State, their professional reputation, and their esteem among their peers.
Sergio Lence, Marlin Cole Professor of International Agriculture Economics, was awarded the International Service Award, which recognizes a faculty member for outstanding international service in teaching, research or administration within the United States or abroad.
Mark Edelman, professor and extension ag economist, received the Achievement in Economic Development in Iowa. This award recognizes faculty and staff members for outstanding ISU-based achievements in advancing the economic development of the state of Iowa. Edelman has devoted much of his career to this cause and assisting Iowans in starting businesses. He has guided individuals and firms as they pursue economic opportunities in a variety of areas and is known for turning ideas into income.
