Alum speaks to study abroad class

Gary Wynne, Courtney KnuppAlumna Courtney Knupp (’07 Ag Business) spoke to the Brexit Study Abroad Econ 496 class Thursday, Feb. 14. She is currently serving as a Senior Policy Advisor for the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service. Knupp is charged with creating a USDA EU trade strategy which includes the ramifications and potential opportunities for agriculture for the potential outcomes of Brexit.

Her talk included her career path from small town Iowa farm girl to political appointee, the impact on U.S. agriculture as the result of a “hard Brexit” or “soft Brexit,” and the administration’s desires for U.S. trade agreements that are fair, free, and reciprocal from an agricultural point of view.

After her talk, she spoke with students individually regarding full time and internship opportunities at USDA and creating connections to work in government.
