David Swenson, associate scientist, was interviewed by Scott Horsley for All Things Considered on National Public Radio on April 6 on "What Impact The Escalating Tariffs Threats Have Had So Far."
Swenson was a guest on Knowledge Wharton, a daily radio program from the Wharton School of Business, to discuss the economic consequences of the U.S./China tariff dispute.
He was also a guest of Maria Bartiromo on FOX Business April 6 (along with Sukup Manufacturing Co. President Charles Sukup).
Swenson was live from the News Service broadcast studio on campus, commenting on an absence of workers, low unemployment and an out-migration of workers 25-44 from rural Iowa. https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/midwest-jobs-plentiful-but-no-takers
Andi Dominic, the Des Moines Register, contacted Swenson with questions about the supply of workers in Iowa, especially in rural Iowa, and Kim Norvell, also of the Register, asked about analysis and information about why Iowa's total income growth in 2017 was nearly zero.
Swenson also talked with Lawrence Tabak, writing for the American Prospect, about economic impact studies used to justify Wisconsin’s very large public subsidy of the Foxconn electronics plant.
He also wrote an April 11 op ed piece for The Hill titled "Looking for Workers in all the Wrong Places."
