Swenson comments on Iowa economy

David SwensonDavid Swenson, associate scientist, spoke with Jason Lange of Reuters. Lange is studying the 220 counties that flipped from Obama to Trump. Lange asked questions about the characteristics and performance of the economy in the Iowa portion, primarily in the 1st Congressional District.


Swenson will also be a guest speaker at the Community Bank & Trust and Courier Communications annual Economic Luncheon, 11:30 a.m. Oct. 3 at the Diamond Event Center, 5307 Caraway Lane, Cedar Falls.

His work centers on regional and statewide economic analysis, technical assistance, and projects that support university-sponsored efforts in community development. He studies a wide range of mostly Iowa-specific topics to include the economic contribution of biofuels production to Iowa’s economy, the regional economic consequences of advanced biofuels production and alternative energy opportunities for Iowa, local foods assessments, industrial and occupational change, and the demographic and economic consequences of rural transformation in Iowa and the Midwest.
