David Swenson, associate scientist, talked with Sarah Ritter, Quad City Times, on Thursday regarding the decline in “big box” retailers in the Quad Cities and what that means for the overall area economy.
Swenson also talked with Kevin Hardy, Des Moines Register, about real wage gains in Iowa given the low unemployment rate. For the past two years, average wages in Iowa have grown only slightly more than inflation despite very low unemployment rate and the assumption that labor shortages would bid up wages.
