Department welcomes new faculty

The department welcomes four new faculty members joining us for 2018 fall semester. Be sure to stop in and welcome them to the department!


John V. Winters, associate professor, comes to Iowa via Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, where he worked as an assistant and then associate professor, starting in 2013. He earned his Ph.D. from Georgia State University in 2009. His research interests include regional and urban economics, labor economics, economics of education, public economics, entrepreneurship economics, health economics, and applied econometrics. John is working in 460B Heady.

 

Dr. Desire KedagniDesire Kedagni, assistant professor, just received his Ph.D. from Penn State University. He earned his Master's from the Universite de Montreal. His main research interests are econometrics, microeconometrics, treatment effects evaluation, applied economics and development economics. Desire's office is 467 Heady. 

 

 

Dr. Adriana Valcu-LismanAdriana Valcu-Lisman, lecturer, is a familiar face around the department. She received her Ph.D. from the department in 2013, worked as a postdoc research associate for CARD and an associate scientist for NREM afterwards. For her new role in the department, she will be working in 581 Heady.

 

 

Dr. Matthew ClancyAnother recent department grad, Matthew Clancy, starts as a lecturer in the department this fall. He graduated with a Ph.D. in economics from Iowa State in 2015.  Before that, he studied at the London School of Economics (MSc in economics) and the University of Cambridge (diploma in economics). Between those two degrees, he spent two years working as a Sub-Saharan Africa analyst at the London based Business Monitor International. He discovered economics late in his undergraduate years, towards the end of a double-major in physics and religious studies.

Most recently he was an economist with the USDA Economic Research Service. Matt's office is 30B Curtiss Hall.
