All through June, academic advisers Amy Brandau, Ron Deiter, and Ebby Luvaga are conducting several undergraduate two-day orientation sessions for new students.
Students and their parents meet with the advisers on the first afternoon to hear an overview of the department and learn more about the major and its requirements. They also hear about opportunities available while at Iowa State, including being in a learning community and joining the Ag Business Club. Last of all, they learn what careers are available for ag business majors.
On day 2, the students meet in their learning teams to start getting to know each other, and to register for classes.
"It's important for the students to start forming a network of classmates that will help them throughout their time at ISU," said Brandau. "Day 2 is my favorite part, as I start to get to know the students individually."
So far, 102 new economics and ag bus students have completed the two-day sessions.
