Wendong Zhang, assistant professor, was awarded a $39,700 grant funded by Iowa Water Center and Iowa Nutrient Research Center for his project "Environmental Justice for All: Nutrient Impacts on Lake-Based Recreation and Tourism by Rural and Socially Disadvantaged Iowans." Zhang's Co-PIs on the project are Yongjie Ji, assistant scientist, CARD; David Swenson, research scientist; and Xibo Wan, Ph.D. student.
This 12-month project aims to understand nutrient impacts via the lens of local recreation and tourism as well as the economic impact of water quality improvement on rural and lower-income communities.
