Beatrice Maule, ag bus sophomore, was nominated for the 2021 Student Employee of the Year award by Wendong Zhang.
In his nomination, Zhang cited her help with data entry for the 2020 ISU land value survey and her data cleaning, analysis and writing of the policy brief “Iowa Farmers’ Business and Farm Transfer Plans: A Comparison between 2019 and 2006.” Maule is currently working on a research project that looks into the gender gap in farm succession decisions in Iowa. In particular, only 6% of Iowa farms chose daughters as the main successor, in contrast with 60% of sons chosen as the main successor.
Maule won third place in the LAS Undergraduate Research Lightning Talks, March 23, 2021, and will also present at the university wide 15th ISU Symposium on Undergraduate Research and Creative Expression on April 21, 2021.
