Hayes on effects of possible ASF outbreak

Iowa State University ag economist Dermot Hayes says in the event of a foreign animal disease outbreak in the U.S., live hog prices will drop sharply over the near-term.

“When ASF (African Swine Fever) was discovered in Belgium, they lost all their export markets immediately, except those that are part of the European Union,” he says.
