Chad Hart, professor, was quoted in the May 22 Ethanol Producer Magazine story "Workable Volatility."
According to the article, corn and natural gas prices are rising to their highest levels in decades, which could affect the ethanol industry. Hart told Ethanol Producer that "We’ve seen this before. These plant managers do know how to manage through these times." He added that producers utilized the increased profits to book corn deeper into the future. “Over the past six to eight months, we saw the ethanol industry become some of the more aggressive bidders for corn, and not only in the spot market, but also deferred pricing.”
