FCA chair speaks to econ classes

Glen SmithAlumnus and chair of the Farm Credit Administration, Glen R. Smith ('79 ag business), shared his experiences with two econ classes learning about cooperatives and agricultural finance on Oct 3rd.

Smith was designated chairman and CEO of the Farm Credit Administration by President Donald Trump on July 17, 2019. He has served as a member of the FCA board since December 2017. Smith will serve a term that expires May 21, 2022.

He also serves as a member of the board of directors of the Farm Credit System Insurance Corporation, which is an independent U.S. government corporation responsible for ensuring the timely payment of principal and interest on insured notes, bonds, debentures, and other obligations issued on behalf of FCS banks.

Smith visited campus with a contingent of CALS graduates from the FCA: Mike Duffy (’87 ag business), credit program manager; Brent Duey (’06 ag business, animal ecology), examiner; and Mindy Stultz (’07 ag business, international ag), examiner. He also met with CALS Dean Daniel J. Robison during their visit.
