“Privileging the Privileged; How bias, power, and privilege impact graduate school funding and admissions”

Description: Graduate and professional education programs play numerous essential roles in higher education. They educate not only future professors, but future professionals who will play leading roles in many parts of American society. This workshop seeks to discuss what happens behind closed doors when faculty are deciding on who gets to earn an advanced degree and how the process can be improved. This workshop will address (but not limited to); (1) admissions practices and strategies, (2) shifts in the curriculum,(3) diversity, and (4) the impact of technology on graduate education, among other topics.
