Mark Edelman, professor and Community Vitality Center (CVC) director secured $255,000 in SBA and Wells Fargo grants for expansion of Solidarity Microfinance to Ottumwa. Edelman and Sandra Burke, CVC research scientist, provide technical assistance to Iowa Community Capital and Iowa Microloan--two nonprofit financial intermediaries that provide the Solidarity capital assistance to entrepreneurs unable to access capital from conventional sources.
