Eathington speaks to student group

Liesl EathingtonLeisl Eathington, assistant scientist, spoke to SHEPH (Students Helping Eliminate Poverty and Hunger), a student group at Ames High School Nov. 30, 2017. Around 30 club members attended the early morning talk.

The group regularly meets to discuss current problems of poverty and hunger domestically and abroad, often bringing in speakers to provide insight on certain topics.

Eathington discussed the economic effects of the 2008 floods in Lynn and Louisa counties in eastern Iowa, contrasting the aftermath of the damage of Cedar Rapids’ downtown area to that of the less densely populated Louisa county.
