Sep 28, 2018 - 1:00 PM
to Sep 28, 2018 - 5:00 PM

Location: TBD

Description: “Managing Unconscious Bias: Strategies for the Classroom”
Samara Hakim, founder of The Culture Factor, LLC, will be the facilitator for the workshop. Hakim is an international thought leader, strategist, speaker, writer and facilitator who equips leaders and organizations to integrate culture into their business metrics towards a more inclusive, innovative work environment. She has more than 10 years of experience dealing with issues of diversity and inclusion, implicit bias impact, gender empowerment and culture transformation.

Unconscious bias (sometimes known as implicit bias) is forming social stereotypes about certain groups of people outside your own conscious awareness. Everyone holds unconscious beliefs about social and identity groups. Unconscious bias is more prevalent than conscious prejudice and often incompatible with one’s conscious values.

The Sept. 28 workshop will help participants enhance their cultural awareness and understand the effect of unconscious bias in the classroom. Participants will draw upon research-based findings to improve their self-awareness and develop the first steps for relating and working with cultural intelligence.

Workshop registration is limited to the first 50 participants.
