CALS Collaborative learning labs now available

Collaborative labsFrom Carmen Bain, Associate Dean of Academic Innovation:

CALS has two beautiful, spacious Collaborative Learning Labs in the Student Innovation Center (SIC) sponsored by Farm Credit Services of America ready for you to use – whether as spaces for project-based learning, student teams to meet, or for recruiting future students – if it involves student engagement and collaboration – we’re open!

The Learning Labs, SICT 4227 and SICT 4229, each seat 12 people and are ideally situated on the 4th floor of the SIC, directly across from the student run coffee shop and snack bar, and kitty corner from the elevators and stairs (see attached map). For more details on each room, please see below.

To reserve a room, please contact Marcy Cheville, Administrative Assistant in the CALS Academic Innovation office, via email at marcyc@iastate.edu or phone at 515-294-2766. Please state your name, learning lab purpose, day, start and end time. Any other questions about the rooms, please contact Marcy.

SICT 4227

A spacious seminar room with windows overlooking South campus. This collaborative learning lab seats 12 people with six moveable tables, and two AV-65” monitors with an HDMI cable. Any content on a user's laptop can be output to the displays via HDMI cable or Solstice Pod. WebEx and Zoom content can be output in the same way, but the webcam and microphone of the laptop running the meeting will need to be used. Each display also has a Solstice Pod for wireless connection to the display and is controlled through a touch panel on the wall.

This room will feature a special hands-on 3-D Magic Planet Learning Globe that delivers state-of-the-art agriculture and life sciences virtual reality learning content from leading research institutions. See: http://globalimagination.com/higher-education/
