Beghin resigns

Dr. John BeghinJohn Beghin, professor and Marlin Cole Professor in international agricultural economics, has submitted his formal resignation effective Dec. 31, 2016. He has accepted the department head position at North Carolina State University.

A native of Belgium, John joined ISU in 1998. From 1999 to 2007, Beghin was the director of Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute (FAPRI-ISU) and the division head of the Trade and Agricultural Policy Division (TAP) at CARD. He rejoined CARD in 2013. He holds one of the two Marlin Cole Professorships in International Agricultural Economics at ISU. Beghin is also affiliated with the Bio-Economy Institute. Before joining ISU, he spent 10 years at North Carolina State University. He has held visiting appointments at INRA, the OECD, and the University of Sydney, and has been a consultant for the World Bank, the OECD, FAO, USGAO, USACE, and various private clients. Beghin is Married to Yalem Teshome and they have a daughter, Ascale Carla.
