Wendong Zhang, assistant professor, and Minghao Li, postdoctoral researcher, published a new article "Navigating the Chinese agricultural economy through the lens of Iowa" in Ag Decision Maker this week.
"In this article we essentially created Chinese provincial maps of land, farmers, corn, soybean, pork and beef production, but showcase them all relative to Iowa. For example, the most corn-intensive province in China only has 93% of Iowa's corn acres," said Zhang.
"Through my extension presentations, I feel that using Iowa as the lens helps many of our producers and professionals understand and relate to these foreign concepts more."
The article was the subject of a story by Matthew Wilde on the Iowa Soybean Association's website, "Opportunity abounds as China enters new era."
