Beginning Jan. 1, 2020, registration for international travel for faculty, graduate students and staff is required. Comprehensive international health and emergency medical insurance is provided at no cost to all faculty and staff traveling internationally on university business. Enrollment in the insurance is now completed through this registration with the Office of Risk Management. The policy became effective Jan. 1, 2020. On May 31, 2016, the U.S. Department of State (State Department) issued a Travel Alert for Americans in Europe through August 31, 2016. The Travel Alert is notable in that it is only the third time that the State Department has issued a general Travel Alert for Europe. Aside from highlighting the risk posed to U.S. citizens from potential terrorist attacks at public locations and large scale events (i.e., tourist sites, restaurants, commercial centers, mass transit, etc.), the Travel Alert draws specific attention to France and Poland.
