Spain is one of the largest consumers of seafood in the world and its consumption of both fresh and prepared seafood has increased in past years. The demand for prepared foods, including seafood products, is postively relatd to the value of women's time. Household expenditures on seafood products are analyzed using a sample selection model and consistent two-step estimation procedure. Results confirm that the opportunity cost of women's time has a positve effect on levels of expenditures for fresh and prepared seafood products.
