Pesticide Fate Research Trends Within a Strict Regulatory Environment: The Case of Germany

Germany has adopted strict environmental standards in response to the growing environmental problems resulting from the use of agricultural chemicals. Umweltbundesamt, the German Environmental Protection Agency, conducts research on groundwater protection and regulates the use of pesticides in the country. The agency uses highly-advanced technologies and stresses the multidisciplinary approach in research. However, the aquifer restoration methods adopted by the Germans may not ensure total groundwater protection.
