Economies of Size in Production Agriculture

The average cost curve for corn and soybeans displays the classic "L" shape.  There are initial economies of size but these disappate much sooner than most people realize.  Although the data does not cover extremely large farms there is some evidence that the cost curve may actually increase with ceratin sizes.
