Graduate Assistant
Juan Murguia is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Economics at Iowa State University, where he studies agricultural, environmental and financial economics, as well as applied microeconometrics. His research assesses the effect of animal infectious diseases on market efficiency, the impact of environmental news on stock markets, and the effect of peers on education. Born in Uruguay, South America, he holds an agricultural engineering degree from Universidad de la Republica, where he was assistant professor of agricultural economics for six years. He has also worked on rural development for the Inter-American Development Bank and on beef market competition for the General Trade Commission of the Uruguayan Ministry of Economics.
He will be attending the ASSA annual meetings in San Diego.
