Organizers
This project was organized by a planning committee of the Iowa State University Department of Economics faculty and the Iowa Energy Center.
Financial Support
The symposium was sponsored by a grant from the Midwest Research Institute and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Energy.
Objectives
The purpose of the symposium is to assess the current status of renewable energy technologies and to clarify the agricultural and economic development opportunities for Iowa. Panels have been organized to discuss wind, solar, biomass, and other more advanced technologies. Industry experts, academics, community leaders, policymakers, and those on the front line of applications have been assembled to discuss the opportunities and limitations from their particular vantage point.
