Two of Iowa's public universities are responding to new requirements from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that foreign students must take classes in person in order to have their F-1 visas renewed.

When you signed the form acknowledging the receipt of your P-Card and/or T&H Card you agreed to comply with the terms and conditions of the Iowa State University Card Programs. Those terms and conditions have changed, effective July 1, and now include the following terms and conditions in bold here.
Starting this fall, all students at Iowa State University are required to have a laptop computer that can connect to the Internet and are expected to abide by the ISU Acceptable Use Policy.
Financial aid

Resources for instructors to prepare for fall. The Brenton Center will be leading a series of workshops on Canvas, Gradebook, and SpeedGrader. Each workshop is being offered two different days and times July 20-31 and registration is required.

On Monday, June 29th, the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST) and the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) are releasing a new paper, Economic Impacts of COVID-19 on Food and Agricultural Markets. Lee Schulz, associate professor, was a contributing author to this paper.
Edward Balistreri, associate professor, and Wendong Zhang, assistant professor, had their paper, "The U.S.–China trade war: Tariff data and general equilibrium analysis," published on Journal of Asian Economics https://doi.org/10.1016/j.asieco.2020.101216.
GianCarlo Moschini, professor, led a new economic analysis that showed field trials led by Iowa State University scientists saved farmers and seed companies millions of dollars by helping them select soybean varieties resistant to a major pest.
Face coverings and/or face shields will be required in classrooms, offices, and other areas where physical distancing is not possible. The requirement will take effect Wednesday, July 1.
The university is providing two cloth face coverings to all students, faculty, and staff who request them, free of charge. Face shields can also be requested. Campus units should reserve face coverings for their employees through central stores.

David Swenson, associate scientist, is part of an Iowa State University Sustainable Agricultural Systems project which has been awarded $10 million by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
A program concept and farm that were developed by Dr. William Murray, a professor of agricultural economics at ISU, in 1938 was mentioned in a June 23 The Monitor Online story, "On-the-farm training: Gaining the knowledge, and confidence, to enter agriculture."
Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture and Life Sciences Wallace Huffman was laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2020 at ISU Cemetery in Ames.
