Our Mission

The mission of the Iowa Council on Economic Education (ICEE) is to provide Iowa’s citizens with an understanding of basic (essential) economic concepts to allow them to function effectively in their daily lives as informed citzens and productive members of the workforce who understand the nature and structure of the state, national, and global economies.

Our Goals

to provide comprehensive, continuing economic education to Iowa teachers;
to develop and disseminate high quality economics curriculum materials;
to provide challenges and opportunities for Iowa’s youth to develop economic skills and understanding;
to encourage and stimulate efforts of educational professionals to bring economic understanding to the youth of Iowa;
to develop and support economics educational programs aimed at the general public, educators, communities, and other target groups;
to advance the standards in economic education and support outcomes-based evaluation;
to achieve broad state visibility and identity for the cause of economic education; and
to develop and support productive members of the workforce.

Our Strategies

develop effective in-service training for economics educators;
support development and distribution of curriculum packages and programs that are relevant to economic educators;
reach out to the general public, communities, and other target groups with continuing economic education opportunities;
advocate standards in economic education for Iowa’s youth;
foster network of Centers to train educators, develop innovative programs, and disseminate economic education; and
provide funding to support broad range of economic education programs.
