Course Information & Announcements

The overarching objective of this course is to learn about the growth of the bioeconomy in Germany and its impacts on food systems, consumption and environmental quality. Students will apply this knowledge to a comparison of the bioeconomy in the U.S. and policy drivers that support the growth of this sector.

At the end of the program, students will:

  • Understand how the agricultural sector in Germany is adapting to the high cost of energy and other natural resources.
  • Be able to compare the responses of Germany and the rest of Europe to that of the United States.
  • Appreciate the culture of Germany and the social and economic transformations that have taken place since the reunification.
