Batlle

Batlle is an agricultural seed cleaning and packaging company in Northern Spain specializing in legume seeds.  Along with the large production of alfalfa and bean seeds, the company also produces many seeds for garden vegetables and melons.  The company has a very wide range of products and packaging processes.

Packaging at Batlle ranges from 8 ounce seed packages to the 50 kg bags of seed for larger scale production.  The smaller packages are marketed to small producers and gardeners, while most of the volume of production goes to large farmers.  Many of the small packages are sold to retail stores who market them to individual consumers.  The wide range of varieties of each product helps Batlle stay very competitive in the smaller niche markets.

The picture below shows students looking at some of the seed varieties. The varying sizes of the seeds makes cleaning difficult for Batlle, as different processes are required to clean large seeds versus extremely small seeds.
