Case Studies

Prepare and be prepared to present the cases you are assigned.  The date your assignment will be due will be roughly coinsistent with the syllabus, but I will update the assignments on the web page.

Each paper should be no more than one typed page.  You should review the relevant issues on both the side of the union and the side of management and then make your decision in light of the contract and relevant labor law.  Each case paper should answer the following questions:

            1) What question(s) do you need to answer to decide the case?

2) What section(s) of labor relations law  or the contract apply to these questions?

3) What information from the case helps you to make your decision?

You do not have to answer the questions following the cases in the text book, al;though some of them may relate to your task.  You will be asked to hand in your paper after delivering your case.  Illegible or sloppy work will not be accepted.  Note that while only a few students will be scheduled to present on a given day, all students should be prepared to discuss the cases.
