ECON 101: Principles of Microeconomics

        Course Description:

        Economics is the social science that studies how people make decisions under conditions of scarcity. 

        Microeconomics focuses specifically on how the decisions of households and firms affect, among other

        things, prices, profits, wages, employment, environmental quality, labor market discrimination, and

        poverty.  

 

 

Course Delivery:

This course is conducted online through a website called Aplia (not WebCT).  The cost of Aplia is $70 per course and includes online access to the textbook, Principles of Microeconomics, by N. Gregory Mankiw.  The course key code and instructions on registering for Aplia will be sent to your Iowa State University email address on the first day of class.  If you will be using an e-mail account other than your Iowa State address, it is your responsibility to have your Iowa State e-mail forwarded to that address.

 

Course Grading:

Four exams (20% each) and weekly problem sets (20% total).  Problem sets are completed online; exams are taken in classrooms on-campus or off-campus with an approved proctor.
