| Narrative: Neil E. Harl is Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture and Professor of Economics at Iowa State University. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State in 1955, a Juris Doctor (law) from The University of Iowa in 1961, and a Ph.D. in economics from Iowa State University in 1965. Dr. Harl is Director of
the Center for International Agricultural Finance that
conducts educational programs for individuals from
Central and Eastern Europe, the Commonwealth of
Independent States and the Baltics. The Center has
conducted Schools of Agricultural Banking, Credit and
Finance in the U.S. since 1990 for Central and Eastern
Europe and the former Soviet Union. Under his direction,
two-week schools have been conducted abroad in Latvia
(2), Estonia (2), Czechoslovakia, Albania, Lithuania,
Russia and Ukraine (3). Harl has also lectured in The
Peoples Republic of China, Australia, England,
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Venezuela. He has also led
task forces to the Czech Republic (2), Slovakia and
Ukraine advising central governments. |
