Dave Swenson, associate scientist in economics and staff member in ISU’s Regional Economics and Community Analysis Program, was interviewed by Ed Tibbits, a reporter with the Quad City Times, on the state's most recent jobs report and the pace of recovery -- focusing on the job losses occurring in local government. He was also interviewed by Staci Hupp, a reporter with The Des Moines Register, about local government employee earnings in Iowa and how benefit structures might differ from the private sector. And he was also interviewed by Angie Hunt, Ames correspondent, KCCI-TV, about whether manufacturing in general and rural manufacturing employment are starting to recover. Swenson reported that while manufacturing jobs in Iowa were up 5,000 from a year ago, they were still down 25,000 from the peak prior to the recession.

Chad Hart, assistant professor of economics and grain markets specialist, spoke with Gregory Meyer, the Financial Times, and Fran Howard, a freelance agriculture reporter, about the latest USDA reports.
