The Iowa Energy Center announces its solicitation for preproposals for research and demonstration projects, deadline October 28, 2011. Awards made under this RFP will have a start date of July 1, 2012.

Funding opportunity -- EPA environmental education

PURPOSE: to increase public awareness and knowledge about environmental issues and provide participants in environmental education grant-funded projects the skills necessary to make informed environmental decisions and to take responsible actions toward the environment.

The Agency expects to fund one project in each of EPA’s ten Regions. The anticipated grant amount per project is $150,000. This is a highly competitive grant program. Applications are accepted until November 8, 2011.

Funding opportunity - regional research for nutrient reduction (due 9/30/11)

The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Gulf of Mexico Program is seeking proposals for projects that seek to improve the health of the Gulf of Mexico. Funded projects will be those that work to at least do one of the following- improve water quality and public health, conserve and restore coastal habitats, improve coastal environmental education, and/or improve ecosystem integration and assessment, etc. It is also crucial that projects actively involve regional stakeholders.

The mission of the Department of Education’s International and Foreign Language Education (IFLE) Program is to meet the national needs for expertise and competence in foreign languages and international studies. For FY 2012 the International Study and Foreign Language Education Program is seeking to increase participation of state universities and other higher education institutions that do not normally apply for International and Foreign Language Education Program grants.

CALS Support for Proposal Development

Although total funds are limited, CALS will provide assistance for as many different projects as possible, in addition to the other resources listed below.
