    • A $25,000 prize that recognizes scholarly contributions to racial, ethnic, and/or religious relations. More information available.

  • Swine industry grants -- Iowa Atty. Gen.'s office/ Smithfield Foods
    • Grant funds totaling $100,000 are available for projects that advance and enhance swine production in Iowa. Proposals are due by February 28, 2011.
    • The $100,000 in grants are for the fifth year of a program funded by Smithfield Foods, which is paying $1 million over ten years for the program.
    • Grant application forms, instructions, and requirements are available with the Request for Application at www.IowaAttorneyGeneral.gov. Those who are interested also may call the Attorney General’s Farm Division at 515-281-5351, or send e-mail to farm@iowa.gov.

  • NSF and the Department of Energy summer opportunities
  • Release of FY 2011 AFRI Childhood Obesity Prevention
    • Approximately $33.5 million will be made available to support the Childhood Obesity Prevention Challenge Area within AFRI with approximately $8.5 million available for new awards
    • In FY 2011, pre-adolescent and early adolescent children (ages 9-14 years) will be targeted. It is anticipated that adolescents ages 15-19 years will be targeted in FY 2012.
