Robert Summy passed away on Sept. 13, 2005. He received a B.S. degree in ag economics in 1969.
- A new format for "Economics News"
The economics weekly newsletter has changed. It has a new look and you can now add your own announcements which will also appear as current news on the Econ home page under news and events._x000d_

Submission instructions: Go to the intranet (https://intranet.econ.iastate.edu), select department newsletter, then select enter newsletter items and follow the instructions at the top of the page. Your item will appear under current news the day after it has been entered (unless you choose a specific start date) and it will be included in the newsletter the first Friday after the date that you select. Items will not appear until they have been approved; an e-mail is automatically generated to the main office staff.

- Food Prize Winner Gives Lecture
"The Blue Revolution: Helping to End Hunger in Southeast Asia" will be presented by Indian scientist and 2005 World Food Prize Laureate Modadugu Vijay Gupta on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. in the LeBaron auditorium.
- Papers requested for conference on Good Social Sciences
The Southwestern Economics Association, in association with the Southwestern Social Sciences Association, announces a call for papers for their 86th annual meeting to be held April 12-15, 2006 in San Antonio, Texas. - American Chemical Society Announces Symposium

PanAgora Asset Managements Quantitative Research Institute announces the 2006 Dr. Richard A. Crowell Memorial Prize paper competition. - Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships
The Ford Foundation announces Diversity Fellowships, which are designed to achieve excellence in College/University teaching: Predoctoral fellowships support study toward a Ph.D. or Sc.D.; Dissertation fellowships offer support in the final year of writing the Ph.D. or Sc.D. thesis; Postdoctoral fellowships offer one-year awards for Ph.D. recipients. The Environmental Protection Agency seeks proposals that will promote environmental stewardship and help develop aware and responsible students, teachers and citizens.
