Yes, the department does have a Facebook page, but it's slow to gain attention. So if you're so inclined, please sign on. Just click on the icon left and you'll go directly to the page.

GSA picnic on for Friday!

GSA has decided to hold the picnic tomorrow as scheduled. It will be at Brookside park, in the Maple Shelter. Officially, the picnic starts at 5pm, but the shelter is reserved at 4pm, so feel free to stop by earlier if convenient.

The weather.com forecast is a 30% chance of rain starting from 6pm, so this may end up being a short picnic. However, there is a 60% chance of rain on Sunday, so we think this is the better option. In the event of a dramatically worsening outlook over the day, we reserve the right to cancel on short notice.

Summer administrative office hours

The administrative offices in Heady Hall will adjust to summer office hours starting Monday, May 7, and will go through Friday, August 17. The hours will be from 7:30 AM-4 PM.

RSVP needed for spring graduate student picnic

The annual graduate student picnic will be on Friday, April 13, starting at 5 PM. Organizers are requesting an RSVP ahead of time in order to plan for food and minimize potential over-purchase. Please contact Matt Clancy, mclancy@iastate.edu, and let him know your plans for attendance.

New baby boy for Tanya Rosenblat and Markus Mobius

Congratulations to Tanya Rosenblat and Markus Mobius on the birth of their new son Benjamin Eli. He was born March 1, 2012, and weighs 6 lbs. 8 oz., and is 19.5 inches. He joins Tanya and Markus, and their two daughters Michelle and Ariel. The department wishes Benjamin Eli and family much health and happiness!
