Agricultural Business Club Wins Top Awards

The Iowa State Agricultural Business Club was named Outstanding Chapter at the annual meeting of the American Agricultural Economics Association held last month, the seventh time since 1992. The award is based on the total program of activities carried out by the club. The Ag Business Club also won the first place award for the best creative idea, achieving a sweep of the two top club awards presented. The Creative Club contest began in 2000 and the club has now won it five of the seven years it has been awarded.

The College of Agriculture Fall Convocation will be held Tuesday, September 5, at 3:30 pm in the courtyard of the Food Sciences Building. The convocation will include a presentation from the Dean and the introduction of new faculty members.

Junjie Sun Receives Two Special Honors

Junjie Sun was selected from among a world-wide pool of graduate student applicants for admission to the computational economics summer school (ICE06) held the week of July 17 by the Institute on Computational Economics, sponsored by the University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory. In addition, all participants were invited to give a poster presentation of their computational economics research in progress and Junjie was one of three winners chosen by the ICE06 directors.

Congratulations to Li Zhang and Biyong Xu on the birth of a son. Luke Xu was born on Sunday, April 30, at 11:55 a.m. weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces and 21 inches long.
